"The Wheels of the World", in Gaelic "Rothaí an Domhain" is an Irish reel in<br> D Mixolydian (Cranitch, Breathnach) or D Mixolydian/Major (Flaherty, Miller, Vallely).<br> The parts are played AB (Breathnach), AAB (Cranitch), AABB (Brody, McNulty, Miller)<br> or AA'BB' (Flaherty, Vallely).<br> "The Wheels of the World" is also the name of a song, a version of which<br> was first published in Belfast in 1801 soon after the Irish Rebellion of 1798.<br> County Sligo-born fiddler James Morrison (1893-1947) recorded the tune<br> in New York in December, 1930, paired with "Rakish Paddy".<br> Coincidentally, it was also recorded in the same month in Chicago by fiddlers<br> Francis Cashin and Tom Cawley, backed by a piano player named Ford.<br> It was printed in<br> Breathnach's CRÉ I (1963),<br> Brody's Fiddler’s Fakebook (1983),<br> Cranitch's Irish Fiddle Book (1996),<br> Flaherty's Trip to Sligo (1990),<br> McNulty's Dance Music of Ireland (1965),<br> Miller's Fiddler’s Throne (2004),<br> Vallely's Play 50 Reels with Armagh Pipers Club (1982).<br> It was recorded by<br> Seán Keane on Gusty's Frolicks (1975),<br> James Morrison and His Orchestra (1930),<br> Kevin Burke on If the Cap Fits (1978),<br> James Morrison on The Wheels of the World,<br> Tommy Peoples and Paul Brady on The High Part of the Road,<br> Jean Carignan on Jean Carignan Plays the Music of Coleman, Morrison, and Skinner,<br> Frankie Gavin on Fierce Traditional (2001) and<br> James Morrison on The Wheels of the World vol. 1 (2000).<br>
